Risk and compliance specialist

(32-40 hours a week)

Your job

Together with your colleague you are responsible for compliance, risk awareness and reduction for our MENA programs. You ensure our management and staff is aware of operational and financials risks and of the impact legislation has on our operations. Together you design and develop a compliance management cycle, along with methodologies, instruments, and best practices. Also, you are responsible for designing and developing compliance trainings and capacity building for our staff and partners in the region. You are part of the larger international Finance department which consists of 15 professionals. This position may require international travel up to 30 days per year.

This means you will…

  • Regularly sit down with, advise and support management and local staff regarding financial compliance. This includes advice on policies, financial legislation, control, and audit procedures and outcomes;
  • Create awareness by assessing and monitoring potential risk;
  • Stress the importance of continuous attention to and improvement of relevant financial and operational processes;
  • Report to and manage contact with appropriate financial and supervisory organizations;
  • Develop training plans and programs for regional and locals teams;
  • Coordinate projects and initiatives regarding internal audit and audit implementations;
  • Stay up to date on relevant international compliance regulations and legislation;
  • Focus on relationship building with management, staff and (external) partners.

Your profile

Are you looking for the chance to add your expertise in serving the persecuted church? Becoming successful in the position requires:  

  • At least a bachelor’s degree in the field of finance, compliance, law, or business administration;
  • Several years relevant working experience in risk, compliance, accounting, or financial control, preferably in an international setting;
  • Understanding of financial controls and experience with managing risk control;
  • Good working knowledge of the culture and customs in the Middle East and or North Africa;
  • Ability to translate complex issues into practical applications;
  • Analytical skills, cross cultural communications, and intercultural awareness, results oriented, relationship oriented, flexibility and creativity;
  • Fluency in Arabic and English, both written and verbally;
  • Being a committed Christian;
  • Candidates originating from or living in the Middle East or North Africa have preference and priority.
