Internship for Francophone Project Countries (m/f/d) (J1911INT)
The Center for Evaluation and Development (C4ED) is looking for a French-speaking student to actively support evaluation projects in the sectors of microfinance and education in Morocco and in Benin respectively. The assignment is based in Mannheim and is limited to three months from September to November 2019. Note that we can only accept a mandatory internship (Pflichtpraktikum).
We are one of the leading research centers in the areas of poverty reduction, microfinance, health insurance, education, humanitarian assistance, and nutrition in Germany. Our vision is to improve the lives of the poor and the vulnerable by making development interventions more effective. We are currently conducting projects all over the world and maintain research relationships with 3ie, ACTED, IFAD, ILO, IPA, J-PAL, the World Bank, and UNICEF to name just a few of our cooperation partners.
- Contributing to the preparation of evaluation reports in French and English:
Desk review: Analyzing and summarizing academic and technical reports and articles in French and English to produce high quality dossiers of country and program backgrounds
Data analysis: Analysis of data collected in Morocco and Benin, development of a coding system and systemized analysis with the software MAXQDA
Active participation in French and English-speaking calls with clients
- Preparation and coordination of meetings and presentations in-house
You are an enrolled student (Bachelor or Master) in Humanities (preferably Roman languages), Social Science or related subjects having a high affiliation to writing high quality texts in both French and English. You show great interest in international development and you have gained previous experience abroad ideally in French-speaking countries.
In your curricular and extra-curricular activities, you have proven exceptional organization and planning skills. You feel comfortable with working independently in dynamic settings and communicating in teams in both French and English. You are able to work efficiently under time pressure and are comfortable in meeting deadlines. First experience with software-assisted analysis would be a plus (Nvivo, MAXQDA). You could start working full-time (different working hours upon negotiation) 1st September 2019 until end of November 2019.
You will work with a team of experienced researchers and project managers and gain hands-on experience in international development and evaluation projects in Morocco and in Benin.
