Junior Professional Officer (JPO)/Beigeordnete Sachverständige (BS)

Beigeordnete Sachverständige (BS) sind international bekannt als Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), Associate Experts (AEs) oder Associate Professional Officers (APOs). Die Bundesregierung hat mit etwa 20 Internationalen Organisationen Abkommen zur Förderung von deutschen Nachwuchskräften als Beigeordnete Sachverständige geschlossen. Die Federführung des Programms liegt beim Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ); das Büro Führungskräfte zu Internationalen Organisationen (BFIO) ist verantwortlich für die Durchführung des Programms. Angesprochen sind Bewerber/innen mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit und mit erster Berufserfahrung nach abgeschlossenem Hochschulstudium.

Da es sich um ein Nachwuchsförderprogramm handelt, sollten Bewerberinnen und Bewerber im Regelfall zwischen zwei bis vier Jahren Berufserfahrung haben. Bitte beachten Sie, dass bei einigen Internationalen Organisationen eine Altersgrenze existiert, hier ist die jeweilige Stellenausschreibung maßgebend (entscheidend für die Altersgrenze ist der Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme der Tätigkeit).

Junior Professional Officer (JPO) in Information Management Systems and Technology, Geneva
Sector/Unit: ICT Information Security/ICT Risk Management
Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension for another year
Please note that for participants of the JPO-Programme two years work experience are mandatory!
 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Assists in the review and development of Secretariat-wide information security policies, and related standards and guidelines. Assists to establish local information security policies and procedures and other relevant documents as required. Participates to the implementation of such information security policies, and related standards and guidelines.
  • Follows and implements an information security management system and risk management framework in line and coordination with Secretariat level efforts, to be used across the Department and supported entities and Organizations.
  • Follows processes to respond in a timely and proactive manner to information security breaches and incidents. Conduct basic computer forensics analysis and investigations in accordance to established processes and procedures. Performs analysis of security information and events.
  • Conducts information security risk assessments across the enterprise at suitable intervals. Ensures that key risk issues are understood, communicated, and tracked as required.
  • Regularly verifies that required information security and risk controls are in place, raising findings, as noncompliance is found and driving improvement.
  • Contributes to the development of disaster recovery plans and business continuity capabilities in coordination with the DR-BC function.
  • Addresses security concerns related to the System Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) and its associated key tasks. Provides advice on the security architecture and configuration complex systems and in general to project management processes and activities. Recommends security controls as appropriate to support business needs while minimizing risk.


Profile of qualification:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, cryptography, information systems, information management, information security, or related fields.


Experience:

  • A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the planning, analysis, implementation and maintenance of ICT services; with proven emphasis on the aspects related to the field of Information Security in particular. Familiarity information assurance and auditing, monitoring and reporting in the field of ICT services


Key Competencies:

  • Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required;
  • Working knowledge of French is desirable.
  • Knowledge in the areas of Information security, Information management, particularly of Service strategy, Service design, Process engineering and Service management is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of information security and risk control frameworks such as COBiT, ISO 27001, ISO 31000 is desirable.
  • Certification in areas such as information systems security, project management methodology, and ICT Service Management is desirable.
