Junior Professional Officer (JPO)/Beigeordnete Sachverständige (BS)

Beigeordnete Sachverständige (BS) sind international bekannt als Junior Professional Officers (JPOs), Associate Experts (AEs) oder Associate Professional Officers (APOs). Die Bundesregierung hat mit etwa 20 Internationalen Organisationen Abkommen zur Förderung von deutschen Nachwuchskräften als Beigeordnete Sachverständige geschlossen. Die Federführung des Programms liegt beim Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ); das Büro Führungskräfte zu Internationalen Organisationen (BFIO) ist verantwortlich für die Durchführung des Programms. Angesprochen sind Bewerber/innen mit deutscher Staatsangehörigkeit und mit erster Berufserfahrung nach abgeschlossenem Hochschulstudium.

Da es sich um ein Nachwuchsförderprogramm handelt, sollten Bewerberinnen und Bewerber im Regelfall zwischen zwei bis vier Jahren Berufserfahrung haben. Bitte beachten Sie, dass bei einigen Internationalen Organisationen eine Altersgrenze existiert, hier ist die jeweilige Stellenausschreibung maßgebend (entscheidend für die Altersgrenze ist der Zeitpunkt der Aufnahme der Tätigkeit).

UNRWA – JPO, Special Assistant to the Director of Education, Amman


Junior Professional Officer (JPO), Special Assistant to the Director of Education, Amman
Sector/Unit: Department of Education
Duration: 2 years with the possibility of extension for another year
Please note that for participants of the JPO-Programme two years work experience are mandatory!
 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide assistance to the Director of Education in the day to day follow up of education programme issues;
  • Support the organisation of any educational events and meetings, and coordinate the organization of the Director’s missions;
  • Prepare draft Talking Points, briefing notes and presentations for the Director’s office for meetings and events with key internal and external interlocutors;
  • Prepare meeting reports and support with the follow up of action points as needed;
  • Support the Director of Education in the coordination of education activities with other UNRWA Departments and Education Field Management;
  • Liaise with the HR Department and the Administration and Governance Unit within the Education Department on procurement and staffing-related issues;
  • Help ensure any circulation of information between the Director's office and the different Education Units at HQ, Education Field Offices and other UNRWA Departments;
  • Work with the Communication Focal Point within the Education Department and the External Relations and Communication Department to ensure follow up of communications and media activities related to education;
  • Undertake any necessary research and analysis to draft notes on issues of strategic, programmatic and operational concern;
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Education


Profile of qualification:

Education:

  • Master’s degree in education, development studies or a related discipline.


Experience:

  • At least two years of relevant professional experience of which two should have been in international humanitarian/development organizations.


Key Competencies:

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge and command of Arabic would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills;
  • Proven ability to operate in a challenging and dynamic environment;
  • Cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability;
  • Ability to identify priority activities and assignments;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with colleagues and others in a team environment;
  • Proven critical thinking, creativity, and analytical skills;
  • Proficiency in computer applications including internet, word processing, spread sheets and databases;
  • Ability to support the coordination of strategic planning, monitoring and reporting.
